Grailpages: Original Comic Book Art and the Collectors

Following five installments of "Applied Panelology", it is time for the first review of a piece of secondary literature. Somewhat in-keeping with the slightly non-mainstream topics featured so far, the subject is original comic book artwork. Perhaps not a major concern to many comic book afficionados, it has certainly gained a lot of profile over the past few years as the growing number of articles in fanzine publications show. If you're still not convinced, go and have a look over on eBay.

Unfortunately, the book on review here - Grailpages by Steven Alan Payne - is something of a disappointment as it misses out on many points, some of which are elementary and some of which would have been truly interesting to cover.

Regarding basics, panelology.info will soon cover a feature on how exactly a comic book was produced in the 1960s and 1970s, and how that process differs from today's. So, as they used to say - watch this space!
